Today we researched creatures from Harry Potter and opened the creature vault.

We found out about Cornish Pixies, House Elves, Boggarts and many more.

We then created our own examples of creatures for the vault.

Have a look at these great examples by Holly, Ellie and Lily.

Well done Class 9!

Collecting data- top grossing Disney films of all time...

This week we will be creating a statistical report to support our project work. We collected data on the top grossing disney films of all time. We were shocked by some of our findings. None of us thought that Toy Story 3 would be the top selling film.

Our next task was to covert the amount of dollars to pounds. Keep checking back to see updates on our report!

What does magic look like?

We began today by discussing our project for the week. We are going to create images and poems based on magic and the use of imagery. We began by listening to some music from Harry Potter. The children listened carefully and we discussed colours and images that they saw when closing their eyes.

We then researched images that represented magic. We found some of the following...

We then decided to play with painting techniques to see how we could create our effects. The children picked out key features such as dark backgrounds, colours of a limited palette and textured surfaces. We tried our best to experiment with techniques. Well done Class 9. You tried so hard.

SOLE with Sugata Mitra

Today we were so privileged. 20 children from across Year 6 were selected to take part in a SOLE (Self Organising Learning Environment). The children were given the question:
Where do dreams come from?

The children were given 30 mins by Professor Sugata Mitra. The children had to organise themselves, find and choose key information and prepare for a presentation.

You should be so proud of yourselves Year 6. Fantastic thinking skills, deeper learning skills and communication.

Thank you to Sugata Mitra.

Science 22.04.15

Today we had fun exploring irreversible and reversible changes. We added heat to a variety of food items and observed what changes occurred, then we had to decide if the change was reversible or irreversible.
